Thaal Sinestro, a character from DC Comics, first appeared in Green Lantern #7 (1961). Hailing from the planet Korugar, he was once considered the greatest of all Green Lanterns, renowned for his discipline and effectiveness in Sector 1417.
Sinestro's unwavering belief in order led him to implement increasingly authoritarian methods on his homeworld, ultimately enslaving its population to maintain control. This abuse of power was discovered by Hal Jordan, leading to Sinestro's expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps.
Stripped of his Green Lantern ring, Sinestro eventually forged a new power ring fueled by fear, becoming the leader of the Sinestro Corps, dedicated to spreading terror across the universe. He has become a persistent foe of the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan in particular, representing the antithesis of their ideals.
